I am a marine ecologist with a PhD from the University College Cork, Ireland. I gained a MSc in tropical ecology from the University of Bremen, Germany and a BSc in marine biology from the University of Plymouth.
My current research focusses on the links between marine ecosystem processes and ecosystem services. To understand the links between ecosystems, their functions and their services to humans is difficult yet indispensable if we wish to predict how human interactions with the marine environment may change the services we rely on.
Another key focus of my work is the development of sets of indicators which may help the understanding of ecosystem service delivery and how indicators may help measuring ecosystem services.
I have also started working with Bayesian Belief Networks as a way to visually and quantitatively assess ecosystem service delivery under different environmental scenarios such as climate change and management scenarios such as changes to fisheries management.
Within Blue Communities I am involved in projects 3 and 8, where we are looking at links between the habitats in the case study sites and the ecosystem services they provide.
