Liliana is a first-year doctoral student in the Geography department and the Environment and Sustainability Institute at the University of Exeter. Her work will be aligned with Blue Communities Programme 9, supervised by Dr. Louisa Evans and Dr. Tomas Chaigneau. Liliana’s research interests focus on measuring and improving social dimensions in protected areas management— such as human well-being and gender equity— through critical analysis of international conservation and development efforts. Liliana has previous experience working in climate change adaptation planning for tribal and state governments in the United States; leading environmental education in Sabah, Malaysia with the U.S. Department of State Fulbright program; and conducting research for conservation NGOs. Liliana holds a B.S. in Environmental Geoscience and a Master of Marine Affairs (M.M.A.).
